Bubble Curtain - Putah Creek Weir
Putah Creek Salmon Video
Shows a "bubble curtain" created by a restoration weir on Lower Putah Creek. We have documented that trout actively use the habitat created by weirs. Now we have definitive proof (video) that Chinook Salmon will actively use, rest, and spawn in the area influenced by weirs.
Putah Creek Salmon spawning in a restoration area. Shows the female Chinook laying eggs, the male fertilizing the eggs, and the female attempting to cover the fertilized eggs with rocks. The white material is "milt|," a seminal fluid.
