Video of U.C. Davis Fisheries Research team conducting salmon carcass surveys in Lower Putah Creek. This is one of our Scarification Study sites that has been used by spawning salmon every year since 2014. I prefer to conduct salmon surveys from the bank which I believe has less impact on the spawning salmon.
Image shows the carcass of a large male Chinook salmon. He was processed by Eric Chapman, a Fisheries Researcher from U.C. Davis. The other ongoing research involves a Gravelbed Scarification Project to improve spawning habitat.
